
Application deadlines for admission to universities and colleges in the USA for Fall 2019 are approaching quickly. It is not a moment to panic but to get organized and take the actions necessary to avoid a last-minute rush, or submitting an application that does not show your true capabilities.By now, you should be well on your way to start the applications. If not, you should at least have given some thought to the following questions, and discussed them with your family and high school counselors:
Where and what do you want to study at university?
Are you staying in your country? Are you going abroad? There are thousands of options for where and what to study at university. It may be overwhelming. Have you taken or at least scheduled the required tests?
English Proficiency Tests – Most universities in the USA will require scores for English proficiency and scholarly aptitude tests. The most commonly accepted English proficiency tests are:
The Test for English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) The registration page provides access to the latest updates on dates.
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) – Academic.
There are other proficiency tests that are becoming more popular, as well as other options for showing proficiency. Each institution decides what they will require you to submit to proof your English ability.
Standardized College Admission Tests – The following are the most common entrance examinations for US universities. They are intended to measure student readiness to enter college. The admission test is one of the most challenging steps for international students. Not all institutions require a specific score for international students, but many do.

Scores are usually available within 2 weeks, but can take as much as 8 weeks depending on the date and center

Scores usually posted in about 2 to 3 weeks.
The availability of sites and dates for these tests is limited. There are some test sites that fill up quickly. Register early. Also, remember that the university will require an official score sent directly to them and that preparing, scheduling, taking the test and getting the score must happen before the application deadlines.
